Shaping a surfboard is one of the most beautifully delicate arts there is. Turning a blank into your very own board is highly skilled, wildly creative, and intimately special. It all begins with a vision and a piece of foam, and it takes a whole lotta patience. Determining overall shape and dimension, pulling rails in for performance turns, adding contour and concavity to reduce drag and optimize speed. There are endless factors to consider that make a surfboard shaper a true artist. And you have the opportunity to witness it all up close.
For most, this will be the first time they have ever witnessed the fading art of hand-shaping surfboards, and for others, they’ll have the opportunity to see the craft closer than ever before.
